Chapter 6: Who Am I? Working with Young First Generational LGBTQ2+ Chinese Canadians

Co-authored with Andy Mok, this chapter explores the intersection of cultural identity, sexual orientation, and lived experience among young first-generation LGBTQ2+ Chinese Canadians.

This paper examines the impact of Chinese culture on the therapeutic relationship, exploring key cultural values, norms, and considerations that may influence the development of therapeutic alliance. It also discusses practical, culturally responsive approaches for clinicians working with Chinese clients.
